MODBUS RECEIVER

The Universal Modbus Receiver from HWM has been designed to provide a complete solution for long-range wireless, fixed-network data collection. The receiver is designed to work in conjunction with any combination of transmitters and sensors.

Modbus Protocol is a messaging structure developed by Modicon in 1979. It is used to establish master-slave client-server communication between intelligent devices connected to the same network.

A single Modbus Universal Receiver can collect data from up to 255 wireless transmitters and/or sensors. However, if the scale of your monitoring project is such that it requires the collection of more than 255 end point connections, multiple receiver units can be deployed side-by-side without any duplication of data or effort.

OPERATIONAL The Modbus receiver supports the Modbus Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) Slave mode. For the receiver to operate, it needs to be programmed with the addresses of the transmitters it is expected to receive.

Once transmitters are detected the data is kept in memory as required by the Modbus protocol. The receiver will respond to requests by a Modbus Master to report the data detected.

A memory map is defined, holding both the transmitter IDs and the information received, which can be read by any Modbus Master device.
